Who We Are – Some Philosophy

At Enhance Sports, we are not ex-Olympians or former professional athletes (okay, some of us got real close). What we are is a community of top amateur athletes, who also happen to be working professionals. Through hard work and collaboration, we have achieved that fine balance between work, family, and athletics. We have an undying love for competition (some might call it an obsession) and realize that in order to effectively balance all three, training must become part of one's everyday lifestyle.

Which of the following quotes best describes your approach to training?

"Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win."
 - Tom Fleming's Boston Marathon training sign on his wall

"Workouts are like brushing my teeth; I don't think about them, I just do them. The decision has already been made."
 - Patti Sue Plumer, U.S. Olympian

"If you feel like eating, eat. Let your body tell you what it wants."
 - Joan Benoit Samuelson

Are you afraid of a little road work? We certainly aren’t!

We hope your own philosophy fits somewhere in between the second and third quote. I spent much of my own youth living by the adage that "somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not and when you race him, he will win". Perhaps with age comes wisdom, as I now understand the importance of rest in any training regimen. While tempo, anaerobic threshold, and interval training have their place in ones routine, they could be rendered useless if one descends into in a fatigued state by doing too much.
